DON'T say LOL Instead of actually LAUGHING!

This is not a story! Unlike my usual posts, this is something that happened today to me in school and it highly frustrated me and so I was thinking how to let out my anger and came up with a conclusion that is to write a post about what happened in my day and how it highly infuriated me. 


Today started off as a normal day. I went to school. Classes were going on and then recess started and one of my friend (let's say Georgina) was making jokes and the rest of us were laughing at her silliness and  after a few minutes she was doing the same thing on repeat and it got boring and so everyone just went back to do their own work and all of a sudden......

"Georgina" skidded on something and tripped over it. Me and my friends just laughed over the fact that she tripped over air and fell. My mate who was sitting beside me said "LOL" and i was like "......haha?" and she again said LOL and i was like "....Ok" and went back to do my work. Throughout the day anything funny happens all she says is "LOL" with a really straight face and i started getting creeped out because like why do you say LOL instead of just laughing is it that hard? Then at one point I got enough of all the "LOL's" and just asked her "Hey! Wassup with you and all the LOL's? hehe?" and she said that LOL is just much cooler way of laughing and she saw many of my seniors using LOL and therefore she was just using that abbreviation to be more cool! (You my dear friend aren't being cool you are being cold!)

WHAT?! Mind = Blasted!

The full form of LOL is Laughing Out Loud and so if you really found the situation funny you should be laughing out loud!!! and not saying LOL with a serious face it just makes people think you are being SARCASTIC! because the way you say LOL and when you really laugh out loud it gives two kinds of thoughts on the receivers mind 


  • If you laugh out loud for real the person will think their joke made sense and it was hilarious and so you were laughing and they will be happy that they made you laugh.
  • If you say LOL instead of laughing it might mean you are being sarcastic or that you are annoyed with their joke because there is NO expression in your face when you say LOL and you are just making the person feel like they are annoying you! Which they are obviously NOT you are the one who is annoying them by saying LOL instead of laughing out loud!

In conclusion, There is nothing wrong with saying LOL i mean i am not a person who is against using the internet slang or anything BUT saying that you’re laughing instead of actually laughing is not just pretentious, it’s confusing! like people do know that “LOL” means “laughing out loud”? You aren't Laughing Out Loud, you are saying "LOL." There is a difference! You are lying! If you say LOL, in the place of laughing, in the real world it would not be genuine because if something is really laugh-out-loud funny you would be laughing out loud!!! 

That's all! I am done with my rant. Just thought of putting my thoughts out here......

I will be back on track writing my normal stories tomorrow ☺

    A very honest outpouring of natural values and reactions! I fully agree with you, Abbirami! I would prefer LOL restricted to texting messages and comments. Saying it orally without emotion can be confusing and insufficient reaction. Actually when youngsters in my family say that word invariably it is to express sarcasm. Trying to be cool is taking crazy trendsetting pushing peer competition also. I for one like spontaneous people whose reactions are not cold in their attempt to look cool!
