Let's first break the title of my blog.
I don't care - means not caring and
I don't know - means not knowing.
Two different things rite? but people mismatch its usage all the freaking time!
This happened today. I was hanging out with a friend of mine and it was around lunchtime, and I asked him "Where do you wanna go?"
"I don't care"
So, I said, "Let's go to Burger King!"
He was like "Meh, I don't want burgers"
Did you see what happened there? He LIED!
He said he didn't care when he totally cared! If he truly didn't care he would have shut everything and came to burger king with me but nope he totally cared. It's not that he didn't care it's that he didn't know.
A very big argument that I get into almost every time I ask people what they want to eat. It's okay to
say that you don't know or as long as it is not burgers I don't care. Being selective about your I don't care is fine because you are saying the truth but saying that you don't care when you actually do care is not fine at all because you are lying. Lying is a terrible job and don't do it to my face with that much casualty. It's perfectly fine to say that "I don't know what I want at the moment how about you give me some suggestions and I will choose from that." This is PERFECT! You are not a liar and you are not eating the brains of the other person that's accompanying you.
Do you know what I do? I truly, genuinely MEAN it when I say that I DON'T CARE! When I say I don't care I know that I'm giving up something valuable. My right to choose. My freedom. So, I do it only when I truly mean it. The way I do it is like I'm okay with any place that is vegetarian and the restaurant is of your choice. See, this way you are not hurting or demolishing the other person emotionally by vetoing everything that they suggest. Saying, I don't care means giving up freedom and freedom is not free so giving up your freedom is a pretty big deal and a very big commitment. STOP taking it lightly! It is NOT okay to say that I don't care when you do care start using I don't know it makes life much easier for yourself and all the people who are accompanying you. Learn to use English and differentiate between I don't know and I don't care.
A.N: As I have joined a boarding school I'm not able to update my blog as I usually do, but the blogger in me is still alive and I will try to update every time I get access to the Internet. This was just a rant to let out the anger that I have been holding inside for too long and I wanted to let it out before it turned toxic so what better way than to let my frustration on my keyboard keys rite? Anyways, have you ever been in a situation like this and got frustrated but never let it out? Now is your chance! Let it out in the comment section below. Probably the shortest blog I have ever written.

Awesome, my dear young lady! Yes, it is definitely right to release bottled up emotions to avoid toxicity of one's mind. The title intrigued me and found the explanation interesting! If internet is not available do not forget the good old habit of writing on paper with pen! Old-fashioned diary is still a handy tool. And think! All our literary giants were dipping their quill in ink to give vent to their emotions, imagination and brainwaves. they have become immortal works. I too maintain a blog mainly to collect my outpourings in various sites written at various times expressed in various literary forms and in both Tamil and English. In my ripe old age I enjoyed the pleasure of seeing my outpourings in print, in two books, in each language! The tagline of my profile is:reading and writing are my hobbies. Nice reading your blog after a long gap. I wonder if you remember me!
ReplyDeleteInteresting stuff to read. Keep it up.
