Innimael Aavathu Moodungalaen Da! (Will You Close It Now At Least?)

...Surjith...

The toddler that fell into the borewell almost four days back has been dug out dead...

This is not the first time we have lost a child due to a borewell not being closed! While everybody is sending their deep condolences to the kid's family. I just have many questions to ask...

Why didn't the people who took the time to dig the borewell didn't have the time to close it? The borewell that sujith fell into was dug by his own family and so, people might say that they didn't have the money to close it due to poverty and reasons but what about all the other "government" dug borewells that were left unclosed and took the life's of many other sujith's?

Who is to blame? Tamil Nadu Water Board (குடிநீர் வடிகால் வாரியம்) They dig borewells for a good cause which is to get water but why don't they close it?!

They get commission to dig the borewells but no one gives them commission to close what has been opened. The price? The life of innocent kids.

What is up with the child's parents? They know that there is a pit in their backyard in which their two year old can fall into and still they decided to be careless about it and let him play out there. What the parents did is equivalent to letting their kid play in the road...

What happens if your kid plays in the road? Any vehicle crossing by has the potential to be the cause for your child's death. That situation is very much similar to what has happened here. I would say that the parents didn't just dig the borewell they dug their kid's grave. Their greatest sin was their carelessness.

Everyday a kid dies in a road accident this is very similar to that since this was also an accident. But all those deaths are not getting recognized but this particular incident is spreading virally and became extremely popular! Why? Media!!

Media makes money out of all these accidents and incidents. They say they are sending their deepest condolences.. No! They aren't they are just very much excited about their month end salary since, because of this kid the channel's TRP would have gone high which leads to higher income at the end of the month.

Would the same media which spend all these days taking pictures and videos of that hole in all the angles that is humanly possible now realize the seriousness of this issue and take immediate actions to close ALL the open borewells in India? I don't think so.

What is the video that I attached with this post about? A kid who was 3, fell into 300ft pit dug in China. The Chinese were able to retrieve the kid in a span of around 30 minutes!!

What did we do? We weren't able to pick the kid up from a 30ft pit (approx). Not only that we pushed the kid further down and made the pit into an almost 80ft pit!

When China could do that in a matter of minutes we couldn't do that in the span of DAYS! Are we Indians that backward in science and technology that we aren't even able to retrieve a kid from a pit?

At this rate we can do nothing but laugh at APJ's dream of India 2020.

The picture that I attached to this post? It is an advertisement that has been circulating in WhatsApp.

This advertisement of being an aid to close all the borewells wouldn't come on TV!

Media wouldn't take the initiative to advertise this. Why? Because it wouldn't give them the TRP that they so desperately want! This advertisement would just be circulating in WhatsApp until a few more kids are sacrificed to these holes. This happens due to the carelessness of the higher officials and the carefree attitude of the higher officials towards these serious issues.

On 10th November 2017, a movie was released. Aramm. How many of you know that such a movie even exists? The seriousness of these unclosed bore wells were very well addressed by the Director in this movie.

Question towards the youth of the nation. We are very much influenced by the movies that we watch. Doing things that Ajith, Vijay or Dhanush does in movies when done by us are considered cool. You even buy dresses that look similar to the ones that your favorite actresses wore in movies.
But what do we do about the movies that are actually influential and deserved to be watched and take actions on? We ignore them.

Some of us don't even take the initiative to watch them. If the government had watched this movie and incorporated some values from this movie into their head and took immediate steps to close the borewells we wouldn't have lost Sujith by now.
Ippadi irundha epadi India valarasaagum?

At least now lets take these issues seriously and do what we can about it. First stop spreading #savesujith #ripsujith #prayforsujith! These are just hashtags for us but those hashtags affect the parents and relatives of the kid who are trying to accept what has happened and move on. Stop making them grieve more everytime they see these hashtags. Instead start spreading #closeborewells! This should be the last angel that we lose. I understand as 16 year olds we cannot make drastic changes as we are not members of the parliament. But as responsible citizens we can still call these numbers when we see any open pit and ask them to close it immediately:

  1. 63851 37800
  2. 63851 37804
  3. 75502 77119

India is not gonna get better by chance... It's gonna get better by change so, be part of the change! Even if you close only one borewell you might become that 1% which made it possible to close all the pits in the near future.

With Love,
Abbi 🙏

Capturing Moments, Creating Magic: My Journey as the Publicity Officer in Monash Malaysia Photography Society

Oh boy, it's been quite the journey from "Publicity Subcom" to "Publicity Head" at the Green Representative Monash Club! I've been spreading eco-love like a caffeinated squirrel on a mission. 🌱☕ But guess what? During one of our beach cleanup escapades, I managed to network with the members of the Photography Society. 📸 Those camera-wielding wizards needed a Vice Publicity Officer, and my response was faster than a cheetah chasing a perfectly lit sunset! 🐆🌅 Why, you ask? Well, I figured if I can make Mother Nature look good, why not turn my lens toward humans too? 😄🌿 So, my debut act as the Vice Publicity Officer was all about recruiting the next generation of board directors. I decided to jazz it up with a retro theme – because who can resist a good old-fashioned throwback? It was like stepping into a time machine, only with more pixels and fewer bell bottoms. 🕺💾 Now, I'm not just spreading the green gospel; I'm capturing it in pixel-perfec...

COVID-19 - A Way Of Nature To Reclaim It's Space

Coronavirus (COVID-19) It is quite sad that the year that we all waited for is the same year that has turned the entire world upside down and into turmoil. By now you would have already guessed what I'm running to address here. Coronavirus (COVID-19) which originated from Wuhan, China. It's a virus that is spreading quickly and many more are becoming infected and some even dying. To contract the coronavirus you first have to come in contact with it either through an infected person's respiratory secretions such as a cough or a sneeze, through physical contact with them or by physically touching a surface that the virus is on and touching somewhere like your nose or your mouth before washing your hands, once the virus can enter the body, it's work can begin. The coronavirus has RNA which is the genetic information that is needed by any virus to replicate. Once the virus comes in contact with your cells it binds to receptors on that cell and once it finds its passage...

Navigating the Leo Club as the Publicity Officer: A Tale of Passion, Purpose, and Creative Adventures

In the world of community service and philanthropy, there's a spark that ignites when you find the perfect platform to channel your enthusiasm. For me, that platform was the Leo Club, where I embarked on a remarkable journey as the newly appointed Publicity Officer. As I look back on my journey so far, it's a blend of creativity, camaraderie, and a dash of humor that has defined the first quarter of my term. Revamping the Logo: The moment I stepped into my role, I knew it was time for a fresh start. The first task on my agenda was to breathe new life into our club's logo. It was more than just an image; it was our identity. The logo revamp was like giving our club a makeover, aligning it with the theme I had envisioned. Announcing the Change: With the new logo in place, I couldn't resist making a grand announcement. Instagram, our digital canvas, was my playground. I wanted the world to know, so I crafted a post that screamed change and progress. It was a small step, bu...
