Coronavirus (COVID-19)
It is quite sad that the year that we all waited for is the same year that has turned the entire world upside down and into turmoil. By now you would have already guessed what I'm running to address here. Coronavirus (COVID-19) which originated from Wuhan, China. It's a virus that is spreading quickly and many more are becoming infected and some even dying. To contract the coronavirus you first have to come in contact with it either through an infected person's respiratory secretions such as a cough or a sneeze, through physical contact with them or by physically touching a surface that the virus is on and touching somewhere like your nose or your mouth before washing your hands, once the virus can enter the body, it's work can begin. The coronavirus has RNA which is the genetic information that is needed by any virus to replicate. Once the virus comes in contact with your cells it binds to receptors on that cell and once it finds its passage it enters into all cells machinery. The ribosomes which are normally used by our body to make proteins for our body are hijacked by this virus and uses its RNA to produce proteins that it needs and your cells end up producing a virus making machine. Once your body realizes that there is something wrong with its system it starts to build higher immunity against this virus. This makes us feels the symptoms for having the virus in our body are headaches, runny nose, coughing, and sore throat and fever and that is why it's hard to detect because these are common symptoms that we feel during a common cold.
Everybody is scared of this virus. But what we have to think about to bring a positive outcome of this is the survivors. A 22-year-old had been tested positive for COVID - 19 a few days back. I'm sharing her said experience with you to relieve any stress/anxiety some may have due to the pandemic.
Day 1 for her started with a mild dry cough and a slightly sore throat. She was very tired that night.
Day 2 was when she felt a lot of pressure in her head to the point she would have to cough softly to avoid the discomfort. That night, she had experienced the chills and had a fever. One main symptom that stood out for her was that her eyes physically hurt. They were tender and sore. Moving them was uncomfortable. Doing some research she discovered this was just a migraine, but it didn't go away and she ended up sleeping all day long.
Day 3 her energy levels started dropping. She only slept and still ran fevers. At this point, her symptoms were dry cough, migraine, fever, chills, some nausea. She went to the doctors where she was tested negative for the flu and strep. The doctor had told her that she might have just had an infection and prescribed her antibiotics and 800mg of ibuprofen. She made sure to stay extremely hydrated and stocked up on vitamins and probiotics. That night she still ran a fever.
Day 4 She got rid of fever but a new symptom showed up shortness of breath. She felt like she had bricks on her chest. At this point, she wanted to check herself for COVID-19. It was very difficult for her to get tested. So, she continued self-quarantine and kept on hydrating herself.
Day 5 She finally got an appointment from the doctors. They said her vitals were unremarkable and when they did chest X-Rays everything came out normal. She was advised to self-quarantine and told that her results would come in 5 -6 days!
Day 6 With the continuous use of antibiotics and ibuprofen her energy levels began to increase and still, she had a sore throat, shortness of breath and cough.
Day 7 Her energy levels were increasing at a very high rate and her symptoms were slight sore throat, mild cough and shortness of breath.
Day 8 She was left only with a mild cough.
Day 9 Her cough was a little heavier and she was back with her normal energy levels.
Day 10 She had a mild cough and a lot of mucus. Her test results came in that day stating POSITIVE.
She didn't give up on herself she continued doing this for 5 more days and she was back to normal and free of the virus. From her experience, she states that using ibuprofen can only worsen your condition apparently and it is extremely important to stay hydrated. See she is a survivor. There is still hope for people. Don't give up on it after all hope stands for Hold. On. Pain. Ends. I pray not but just in case you get tested positive for the coronavirus please don't panic consult a doctor fight it and come out like a boss and please inform everyone that you were in contact with that you were contracted by the virus so that they can get themselves tested and save their lives too.
When the world is filled with negativity and deaths there is one positive turn. Nature. It has been recovering itself from all the nuisance that we humans had put it through all these years. Nature has been reclaiming it's space ever since humans have been shut down in their houses due to the corona virus pandemic. Dolphins have returned to Italy's cost, which we only have the missing cruise ships to thank for, Italy's canals which are usually populated with gondolas and tourists are now re-occupied by swans. In Singapore otters are roaming freely due to the empty public places. These are great reminders of how we humans have invaded the territory of other living beings. We have killed animals, destroyed their habitats and overused our resources. Despite being the superior species on our planet we do not own the planet we share the planet. Coexistence is just as important as the survival of the fittest. Ducks have the same rights on the planet as we humans do. Learn to coexist. We, humans, arrived on earth just now. Nature has been here for eons. Mother nature has starved species greater than us and fed species bigger than us. Our actions will decide our fate. Nature will go on despite us existing or not because she is prepared to evolve. Remember to regard and live along with nature even after this pandemic gets done.
People have to stop complaining about staying at home because if that's the only way to get rid of this virus then just do it. It's not even that hard of a task. We are not asking you to avenge wars. We are asking you to sit in your home because if you refuse to rest at home then you may end up resting in peace. Our previous generations stopped pandemics by fighting and shedding blood but we can save the world by just staying at home and if that isn't the easiest way to become a superhero I don't know what is. Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of 1973 authorizes the Executive Magistrate of any state or territory to issue an order to prohibit the assembly of four or more people in an area. According to the law, every member of such 'unlawful assembly' can be booked for engaging in rioting. They implemented this law all over the world to save us. Think before you break it, Social distancing is the only way to put an end to this so just do it. Stay home or you will end up staying in a hospital and at last, you will stay in a photo frame. What you do makes a difference. An arrow can only be shot by pulling it back so if life is pulling us all backward it just means it's going to launch us into something greater. Stay positive and let's prove our unity as a human race by dividing and staying alive.
THE PREVENTIVE MEASURES THAT WHO (World Health Organization) TOLD US HAVE SIDE EFFECTS.
The masks that you wear to prevent Corona can actually become the reason you get cancer later on in life. Due to the inhalation of polythene from these masks which can get accumulated in your lungs and lead to lung cancer, also stop using hand sanitizers to clean your hands because over use of artificial hand washers can lead to lowering of the pH value in your hand and damage the natural protective coat on your hand leading to easier access for the virus to enter. Instead use traditional Indian ways to wash your hands. Use kadalamaavu (Groundnut Flour) and payathu maavu (Green Gram Powder) to wash your hands which can stimulate your hand's natural protective skin covering and make sure that it becomes ten times tougher for the virus to enter your skin.
A.N: If COVID-19 has taught me one thing it is that what a precious privilege it is for me to be alive, to breathe, to think, to enjoy and to love. Don't waste this life by doing something as stupid as getting contracted by a virus and dying. A final message to all the people who read it until here. Always believe there is hope even when your brain tells you there isn't. Surround yourself with positive vibes always.
Thanks for the heads up!!!
