Greenlight Chronicles: My Journey as the Publicity Officer in Green Representative Network Monash

From day one, I've been greener than a broccoli smoothie at a vegan brunch! ๐Ÿฅฆ๐ŸŒฑ When I spotted the university's sustainability club (Green Representative Monash) with a motto as crisp as organic lettuce, I knew I had to dive in. So, I rolled up to the interview like a reusable shopping bag ready to carry the weight of my eco-passion.

They must've seen the sparkle in my eyes because they welcomed me as the "Publicity Subcom" – basically a mini social media guru of the green revolution. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ’š

My first mission? Gathering member photos faster than a squirrel stashes acorns for winter. ๐Ÿฟ️ Then, I brainstormed intro posts that were so fresh, even Mother Nature would've given them a thumbs-up! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‘

Subcommittee Post:

In my first semester as the "Caption Czar" (aka Publicity Subcom), I may not have posted like a social media sensation, but you bet your reusable water bottle I was the wizard behind the scenes! ๐Ÿง™๐Ÿ’ง I conjured up captions that made even trees do a double take. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ‘€ I crafted Google forms for events smoother than an electric car gliding down a quiet street. ๐Ÿš—๐ŸŒฟ And I advertised posters and merch like I was running a secret eco-black market. ♻️๐Ÿ’ธ

Then, the universe smiled upon me, and in the blink of a solar-powered eye, I got promoted to "Publicity Head." ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ“ข It was my time to shine, or should I say, my time to solar-power up and shine responsibly. ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’š

I was ready to create, schedule, visualize, and publicize posts like I was the Picasso of eco-content. ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒ Watch out, social media world, I was about to drop sustainability gems hotter than a compost pile in July! ๐ŸŒก️๐Ÿƒ

For this semester, I decided to turn our committee and subcommittee posts so green that they practically photosynthesize! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ“š Here's the simple yet eco-tastic layout I've rolled out:

Now, to take our green revolution to the next level, I decided to create a post and Google form that would attract eco-warriors like a magnet to recyclable materials! ♻️๐ŸŒŸ

Recruitment Extravaganza: ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŽ

We unleashed the ultimate green extravaganza of the semester – the "Sapot Lokal Sustainability Bazaar"! ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ›’

๐Ÿ“ข LOOKING FOR STUDENT VENDORS ๐Ÿ“ข

For this mega event, we had one simple rule: Nothing mass-produced allowed! ๐Ÿšซ We wanted homemade goods, handcrafted treasures, and pre-loved items that would make Marie Kondo nod in approval. ๐Ÿ›️♻️

The aim of the event was:
✨ To give student businesses a spotlight to showcase their sustainable products and promote their ventures.
✨ To spread the gospel of sustainability far and wide.

We also had benefits for vendors:
๐Ÿซถ Zero vendor or rental fees – 100% of your profits stay in your pocket!

But wait, there's more! ๐Ÿคฉ We teamed up with the awesome folks at musa.cares from another uni club organization to make this event a smashing success! ๐Ÿค๐ŸŽ‰

Outside vendors, student vendors, and a ton of eco-conscious shoppers all came together to create a buzz that was as electric as a wind turbine in a hurricane. ๐Ÿ’ก

Our next exciting event for the semester was the "Friends of Bukit Kiara Firefly Night Walk"! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšถ‍♂️๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒƒ

We joined under the starry skies as we:
๐Ÿ”ฆ Embarked on a guided night hike through the enchanting Bukit Kiara forest.
๐ŸŒŒ Witnessed the mesmerizing light show of nature's tiny magicians – the fireflies.
๐Ÿ”ฌ Dove into a citizen science workshop, uncovering how communities like ours can contribute to scientific discoveries.
๐Ÿ“Š We collected valuable data as we strolled through the darkness.

Thanks to the support from our amazing Clubs and Societies, we spread the word like wildfire through social media posts and Google Forms, and it was a night to remember. Nature, science, and a touch of adventure – it was a wholesome successful event overall ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒฟ

Hold onto your eco-hats because we've been on a talk-tastic rollercoaster of green wisdom! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŽค

We hosted talks on

Animal welfare (no animals were harmed in the making of these events, we promise!)
Sustainable palm oil (we used palm-sized fonts),
Mangrove planting (without anyone getting stuck in the mud)!

But here's the kicker – we know the way to everyone's hearts is through their stomachs. So, we lured people in with the promise of FREE LUNCH! ๐Ÿฝ️ Yes, you heard it right, free food! We'd see folks sprinting to our events faster than a cheetah chasing its dreams. ๐Ÿƒ‍♂️๐Ÿ’จ

And what's a green gathering without a few games? ๐ŸŽฒ We conducted eco-themed competitions with grab vouchers as prizes. Let's just say, the games were so intense; we had folks more competitive than a squirrel fighting over the last acorn before winter! ๐Ÿฟ️

To wrap up the semester in the most relaxed and eco-friendly way possible, we decided to roll out the green carpet for a Sustainability Movie Night! ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŽฅ

Picture this: A room filled with eager sustainability enthusiasts, all ready to embark on a cinematic journey with our favorite little robot, Wall-E. ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿช

Entry? FREE, of course! ๐ŸŽŸ️ Because saving the planet shouldn't cost you an arm and a solar panel leg.

Now, let's talk refreshments. We know we've got to keep the club's finances in check, so we offered snacks and drinks at prices so affordable, that even a penny-pinching penguin would be impressed! ๐Ÿง๐Ÿ’ฐ

But here's where it gets fun and funky: We kindly asked everyone to BYOT (Bring Your Own Tupperware) and cups to help us keep waste to a minimum. ๐Ÿฝ️๐Ÿฅค Our event was more sustainable than Wall-E's recycling plant!

And if that wasn't enough, we gave folks the green light to bring their own dinner to the venue. It was like a potluck picnic in space but without the zero-gravity mishaps! ๐ŸŒŒ๐Ÿ•

So, as Wall-E danced his way across the screen, we all kicked back, enjoyed snacks, and reveled in the good company of fellow Earth-loving movie buffs. ๐Ÿฟ๐ŸŒ

Stay tuned for more eco-fun in the next semester – we promise it'll be out of this world! ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒŸ

Ahoy, Semester Two! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŸ We're back and greener than ever, because we're all about self-improvement this time around. Remember how we talked about mangroves last semester? Well, we decided to kick it up a notch and got our hands dirty – literally!

We teamed up with the School of Science, gathered our trusty members, and took our mangrove love to the next level with some good old-fashioned planting. Our mangroves are like the Beyoncรฉs of the plant world now – fierce and flourishing! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐ŸŒฑ

But we didn't stop there. We're all about showing, not just telling. So, we decided to treat our events like an epic movie series. ๐ŸŽฌ Cue the dramatic music as we roll out RECAPS of our previous shenanigans. Think of it as a sneak peek of the incredible green adventures to come!

We've got more surprises up our eco-sleeves than a magician pulling rabbits out of hats.

Next up, We teamed up with MUVP (Monash University Volunteering Program) to hit Pantai Kelanang with a tsunami of environmental love. Our beaches are like a treasure chest, and it's time to reclaim the loot! ๐Ÿ’ฐ

A squad of eco-warriors, armed with trash bags and determination, ready to take on the beachfront battleground. It's like "Baywatch," but instead of lifeguards in swimsuits, we've got cleanup champs in eco-friendly attire! ๐Ÿ„‍♀️๐ŸŒ

Remember, every piece of trash we remove is a victory for Mother Earth, and boy, does she love a good win! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ†

The entry fees were:

GRN Member: FREE (because saving the planet is your superpower!)
MUVP Past Volunteers: FREE (high-five to you, eco-veterans!)
Non-GRN Member: RM10 (a small price to pay for a big impact)

We joined volunteers to turn trash into triumph and left Pantai Kelanang sparkling like a sunbathing mermaid's tiara! ๐Ÿงœ‍♀️๐Ÿ’Ž

Hold onto your sustainable bamboo hats because I decided there has to be some change this semester, we're diving headfirst into the world of moving pictures! ๐Ÿ“ฝ️๐ŸŒฟ

We got ready to level up in sustainability fun! ๐Ÿ•น️๐ŸŽฎ Our first video clip post is like an arcade game you can't resist! ๐ŸŽ‰

It's not just dinner; it's a chance to meet new people, conquer epic games, and eat like a champ. Plus, no quarters are needed! ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ‘พ

๐ŸŒ In our second video, we've turned our committee introductions into a blockbuster by making it a video presentation post.

Drumroll, please! ๐Ÿฅ๐ŸŒŸ

Latest we introduced our masterpiece: Sustainable Swag! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ‘•

It's not just merch; it's a fashion statement for the eco-warrior in you. We didn't just design a shirt and a poster; we crafted masterpieces!

Join the green revolution and strut your stuff in style, all while helping fund our awesome initiatives. Who knew saving the planet could look this good? ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸŒ

So, if you see our club's social media blowing up with eco-goodness, just remember, it's all thanks to the kid who grew up dreaming of a world as green as Kermit the Frog's tea. ๐Ÿต๐ŸŒฟ

Stay tuned for updates as we embark on eco-adventures that'll make Mother Nature herself do a standing ovation. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‘

Capturing Moments, Creating Magic: My Journey as the Publicity Officer in Monash Malaysia Photography Society

Oh boy, it's been quite the journey from "Publicity Subcom" to "Publicity Head" at the Green Representative Monash Club! I've been spreading eco-love like a caffeinated squirrel on a mission. ๐ŸŒฑ☕ But guess what? During one of our beach cleanup escapades, I managed to network with the members of the Photography Society. ๐Ÿ“ธ Those camera-wielding wizards needed a Vice Publicity Officer, and my response was faster than a cheetah chasing a perfectly lit sunset! ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŒ… Why, you ask? Well, I figured if I can make Mother Nature look good, why not turn my lens toward humans too? ๐Ÿ˜„๐ŸŒฟ So, my debut act as the Vice Publicity Officer was all about recruiting the next generation of board directors. I decided to jazz it up with a retro theme – because who can resist a good old-fashioned throwback? It was like stepping into a time machine, only with more pixels and fewer bell bottoms. ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ’พ Now, I'm not just spreading the green gospel; I'm capturing it in pixel-perfec...

COVID-19 - A Way Of Nature To Reclaim It's Space

Coronavirus (COVID-19) It is quite sad that the year that we all waited for is the same year that has turned the entire world upside down and into turmoil. By now you would have already guessed what I'm running to address here. Coronavirus (COVID-19) which originated from Wuhan, China. It's a virus that is spreading quickly and many more are becoming infected and some even dying. To contract the coronavirus you first have to come in contact with it either through an infected person's respiratory secretions such as a cough or a sneeze, through physical contact with them or by physically touching a surface that the virus is on and touching somewhere like your nose or your mouth before washing your hands, once the virus can enter the body, it's work can begin. The coronavirus has RNA which is the genetic information that is needed by any virus to replicate. Once the virus comes in contact with your cells it binds to receptors on that cell and once it finds its passage...

Navigating the Leo Club as the Publicity Officer: A Tale of Passion, Purpose, and Creative Adventures

In the world of community service and philanthropy, there's a spark that ignites when you find the perfect platform to channel your enthusiasm. For me, that platform was the Leo Club, where I embarked on a remarkable journey as the newly appointed Publicity Officer. As I look back on my journey so far, it's a blend of creativity, camaraderie, and a dash of humor that has defined the first quarter of my term. Revamping the Logo: The moment I stepped into my role, I knew it was time for a fresh start. The first task on my agenda was to breathe new life into our club's logo. It was more than just an image; it was our identity. The logo revamp was like giving our club a makeover, aligning it with the theme I had envisioned. Announcing the Change: With the new logo in place, I couldn't resist making a grand announcement. Instagram, our digital canvas, was my playground. I wanted the world to know, so I crafted a post that screamed change and progress. It was a small step, bu...
